We had heard rumors of Microsoft working on a Surface Mini for bringing their premium line of Surface devices to users who wanted to have an affordable smaller Surface device. But Microsoft has to cancel it because of the fate of the OS on which it was runing. As most of you know the earlier versions of surface ran on Windows RT which was a specialized cut down version of Windows 8 that allowed only store apps to run and no desktop could be run on it. Today, WindowsCentral has posted some pictures of this Cancelled Microsoft Surface Mini.

The Surface Mini was an 8-inch device that was powered by an ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and had a 1GB RAM. It had a screen resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels and was having an Adreno 330 GPU. It had a built-in kickstand that was similar to what Surface Pro 3 had. There was a microSD card slot for expanding its storage which offered 32GB of internal Memory and a Micro-USB port for charging.

We can’t tell what would be the fate of this device if it had been released by Microsoft but one thing we are quite sure is users do want a small affordable Surface device.
