Microsoft has just now trademarked a service called ‘MixPlay’. According to the name, there could possibly a connection with Microsoft’s own streaming service – Mixer. Here’s trademark listing itself that provides a much better idea of what this possibly could be.

Computer software, namely, digital content assets in the nature of files and applications that allow users to personalize content and games to play, download, share, and exchange; computer software for creating, viewing, publishing, producing, broadcasting, and playing animation, video, sound, and graphics; computer software for use as a tool for personalizing, designing, and updating text and animation; video game software.
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) that allows users to personalize content and games to play, download, share, and exchange; software-as-a-service (SaaS) that allows users to create, view, publish, produce, broadcast, and play animation, video, sound, and graphics; software-as-a-service (SaaS) for personalizing, designing, and updating text and animation; software-as-a-service for playing video games.

With this, we understand that ‘MixPlay’ could be a software that can be used for video editing, adding animated texts and graphics much like a full-fledged video editor, which also could be broadcasted. This also could be streaming overlay creator much like StreamJar or StreamLabs. This sounds very familiar to UploadStudio which is used in Xbox. Perhaps, this also could be a replacement for UploadStudio itself.

The word ‘Mix’ sounds like a possible connection with Mixer. This also means that this feature could be an integrated feature with Mixer itself.

As there’s a lack of overlays for streamers using Xbox, ‘MixPlay’ could have a real motive, given the fact that Microsoft recently seems to be taking a lot of interest in the gaming world.

After all, these are all mere speculations. Microsoft had similarly trademarked many things in the past that never translated into an actual product. Will ‘MixPlay’ become a thing? We’ll have to wait and watch.

We had heard rumors of Microsoft working on a Surface Mini for bringing their premium line of Surface devices to users who wanted to have an affordable smaller Surface device. But Microsoft has to cancel it because of the fate of the OS on which it was runing. As most of you know the earlier versions of surface ran on Windows RT which was a specialized cut down version of Windows 8 that allowed only store apps to run and no desktop could be run on it. Today, WindowsCentral has posted some pictures of this Cancelled Microsoft Surface Mini.

The Surface Mini was an 8-inch device that was powered by an ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and had a 1GB RAM. It had a screen resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels and was having an Adreno 330 GPU. It had a built-in kickstand that was similar to what Surface Pro 3 had. There was a microSD card slot for expanding its storage which offered 32GB of internal Memory and a Micro-USB port for charging.

We can’t tell what would be the fate of this device if it had been released by Microsoft but one thing we are quite sure is users do want a small affordable Surface device.

Few days back Microsoft had released a new build 16212 accidentally for Windows 10 PCs and Windows 10 Mobile users enrolled in any windows insider ring. Microsoft has issued a statement saying that the build 16212 was an internal build and was not supposed to come out for insiders.

This build contained many new features that were discovered by users who were able to install it on their devices. One of them was a new virtual keyboard which is based on the Swifkey technology and will introduce the swipe support which is currently available on WordfLow keyboard on Windows Phone. This keyboard is also expected to support input via pen.

Today a new GIF of the WordFlow keyboard working in Windows 10 PCs has been posted by @tfwboredom on twitter. The GIF shows the WordFlow keyboard which looks exactly like the keyboard found on Windows 10 Mobile. This new keyboard is built by Microsoft’s WordFlow team but they are also using some part of SwiftKey’s technology which has its own keyboard app on Android and Microsoft acquired it last year.
You can visit our other features found in this accidentally released build.

Recently we have seen leaked pictures and specifications of Microsoft Lumia 960 that was supposed to be the successor of Lumia 950. However that was cancelled because of the decision of Microsoft to retrench its mobile buisness. We have seen various cancelled Lumia series smartphone and that trend seems to continue now. We also have seen some pictures of a Nokia made Windows Phone that had a hardware qwerty keypad. Another day, another unreleased phone has made it to this list. Pictures of Hapanero, a Windows Phone which was only created for demo purposes at BUILD 2015 has been leaked.

Hapanero existed in two variants with dual-SIM support one having a 1080P screen and another one having 1440p screen. The device had been powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with  4GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage with microSD card expansion. The phone also had a 20-megapixel camera with a triple LED flash (similar to Lumia  960) and 2000mAH capacity that can be removed.

We have been hearing rumours about Microsoft launching smartphone (not surface phone) at the end of this year. Other OEMs have not been able to capture the Windows phone market that Lumia left for them. Let us see what Microsoft will for the future of Windows phones.

Microsoft yesterday released the Windows 10 insider preview build 16199 on the fast ring. Windows Central spotted that the blog post for this new build yesterday had a picture of the new setting icon in the taskbar that was later removed.

According to them clicking the setting icon in the Windows 10 Taskbar would open a transparent pop up like it do for WiFi settings in the taskbar. This popup has quick actions and some new features like brightness slider. This image has been removed from the post and this setting icon is now not available on the Windows 10 fast ring build 16199. Here’s is a look of it:

There is no official news from Microsoft regarding this or its presence in the Windows 10 fall creators update. Let us see what Microsoft have for the insiders in the upcoming Builds regarding this new ‘control center’.

We all know what is Amazon Echo and it can do. Now Microsoft is all set to take on Amazon Echo & even Google Home. Microsoft is coming up with new speakers. Don’t take it too simple, those are Cortana Powered Speakers. Yes, you heard it right. Microsoft had finally an answer to Echo & Google Home.

If rumors and leaked images are to be believed, Microsoft is planning to introduce new Cortana powered speakers in partnership with Harmon Kardon and other partners. A report on MSPU indicates clearly that this Cortana powered speakers are not far away.

Those who are on latest Insider build, Redstone 3 may have noticed a section called “Devices” in Cortana. Actually, Microsoft is working on an app called “Cortana Device Setup” which will further control the devices by Cortana. The app may be available in the upcoming RS3 Insider builds.

From the above Image, we can see a “Buy Now” button on Cortana, which now redirects to a Microsoft Page. You can check yourself if your PC is running on the First Insider Build of RS3. In future when the speakers are out, we can control them from here. As of now, we don’t have any Cortana Powered device. But take a look at the Screenshots below.

From the above Screenshot, we can understand that something is being cooked in the background by Microsoft and will soon come to light. And the app also contains some voice commands for Skype, Music, Reminder, Weather.

All these leaked Screenshots are pretty Interesting. It’s not far when we have a Cortana Powered Device in our hands. How many of you are excited to see this and wanna try a Cortana Device. Let us know in the comments below.

Samsung seems to have taken their Windows 10 ventures a few more steps ahead as more details of the upcoming devices leak.

MSPU has gotten hands on an app on the Windows Store which reveals more about the upcoming Windows 10 tablet from Samsung. The app reveals that the tablet will have the S Pen capabilities. For users who are unaware of what an S Pen is, it is basically a touch pen made by Samsung for its Note devices having a set of nice features.

From the description of the app,

S Note is a note taking application which allows you to efficiently create, edit and manage notes. It provides a number of user-friendly features that differentiates it from other note taking applications. This includes easy file management with the ability to create categories and copy, move or delete files from within the application. It also supports interactive multimedia functions and allows you to draw and write using S Pen.

It will be interesting to see how the market receives Samsung’s Windows 10 devices, when it gets revealed at the MWC. But judging from the excitement all over the internet and the Samsung + Windows 10 fan base, we can safely assume that the device will be an insta-hit provided the specs and price are rightly married.

You can check out the S Note app here.

Rumors have been doing rounds and bits of leaks from here and there already have all but confirmed the reveal of Surface Pro 5. Now a new leak further solidifies the rumor and confirms that the Surface Pro 5 is indeed a thing and it is coming soon.

A new tweet from WalkingCat, a prolific Microsoft leaker has pointed to a source that indicates the presence of the Surface Pro 5. The tweet points to the profile of one Toby Fitch, who according to his LinkedIn profile is a Microsoft employee. His profile mention that he has been a ‘product designer’ for various devices like the HoloLens, Xbox and the Surface Pro 5.

Intel’s Kaby Lake, a refresh of all the Skylake based counterparts from 2016 is now almost present on all laptops and 2-in-1s, . As Surface is the only major player left here, it is sure that Microsoft is sure to refresh it’s specs by this year. Also Intel’s 8th generation processors are due this year. Taking all this into account, a Surface refresh is indeed due this year.

Admit it, Windows 10 looks smooth. With the transparency options, subtle animations and a bit of blur here and there, Microsoft has done a nice job with MDL2. It’s lot better than Windows 8 and reminds me a bit about Windows 7’s aero(sigh! I miss it.)

Looks like Microsoft is going to take the sweetness to a whole new level with its upcoming design language, Project NEON. Today we got a look at it, thanks to the good folks there at MSPU. The leaked photos shows that aero is making a comeback with some new twists. Microsoft is calling the new effect as ‘Acrylic’ and it sure does look nice.

Microsoft is supposed to release project NEON starting with Redstone 3. Developers can also implement the UI changes to their apps. Insiders will get an early peek at these features later this year.

A new report from a South Korean daily has suggested that Microsoft is one of the first customers for the new Foldable Screens from LG.

The new screens will probably be used by Microsoft in their Surface products in 2018 and their usage in phones is unknown for now. Apple and Google are also in the same van as Microsft here, and they are also purchasing the new Foldable Screens.

We have to wait for now, as currently speculating devices for next year will be foolish.
