Just yesterday we confirmed that the Skype Preview App will be coming to Windows 10 Mobile in this week or next week. Now Microsoft has actually pushed the Skype Preview App for Insiders on Windows 10 Mobile.
The new Skype UWP Preview App has been under testing by the company since long and after successful testing the App is now officially available for Windows 10 Mobile. The UWP app includes a redesigned Interface along with many new features. The company has released the new features on the Skype Blog.
Changelog:
“Today, we have started to roll out the new Skype Preview for Windows 10 Mobile as well as an updated Skype Preview for Windows 10 PCs to members of the Windows Insiders Program.
This release brings one of our most requested Skype features to your Windows 10 phone: the ability to make group video calls. You can have up to 25 friends and family come together on a free group video call, talk face-to-face with a 1:1 call, message your friends in an instant to share photos, emoticons and Mojis to liven up your conversation. You can also quickly reply to Skype messages—no need to open Skype.
Later this summer we will bring new features to Skype on Windows 10 Mobile, including SMS relay. With this feature, you’ll be able to send SMS messages from a Windows 10 PC or Windows 10 phone, giving you the ability to send and receive texts, group messages, and photos all in one app, as well as a single view of your SMS and Skype conversations.
This updated Skype Preview is also available for Windows PC. Since our last release we’ve added many more of the popular communications features in other Skype clients: you can call mobiles and landlines at low rates, leave and receive voicemails, put a call on hold, and answer a call if you’re already on a call with call waiting. We’ve made it easier for you to find people in search. We’ve added additional collaboration tools such as file sharing, screen sharing and translation for audio and video calls. For a new way to bring expertise, products, services and entertainment into daily messaging on Skype, we’ve also released a preview of Skype Bots. Lastly, we’ve made many improvements to the overall app performance and experience. Give it a try!”
Note: This update is currently being seen only for Insiders on Redstone and not for Insiders on Release Preview. If you are enrolled in the Insider program you can download the UWP App, and for Non Insiders this App should be available once the Anniversary Update goes live on 2nd August.
