It’s been a while since the Redmond-based Microsoft launched the Lumia 950 and 950 XL with Windows 10 Mobile. It’s been more two years and we are not seeing any first-party phone from Microsoft. Although, the rumours have claimed that Microsoft is working on a ultimate mobile i.e Surface Phone.
Microsoft’s Satya Nadella has recently hinted a possible launch of the Surface Phone. He confirmed that Microsoft is planning to launch a mobile device that won’t look like phones, “We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today’s market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device,” Nadella said.
“When you say we’ll make more phones, I’m sure we’ll make more phones, but they will not look like phones that are there today,” he added. A Microsoft watcher also confirmed that Microsoft is indeed testing a mobile device with Andromeda OS.
A new report from The Verge claims that Microsoft is going to hold an event by end of October to launch new Surface devices. There have been speculation that the company might announce a new mobile device as they are working on it for a while now.
The sources told Business Insider that Microsoft won’t show the Surface Phone at its event. It seems the mobile device won’t be launched in 2017 and it has been delayed further. Microsoft is however planning to announce a Surface branded ARM powered Windows 10 device. As Andromeda OS is still not ready, it makes sense for the company to delay the Surface Phone.
