Off late there have been lot of companies who are exiting Windows Platforms. Earlier we have reported that Subway Surfers is exiting the Windows Platform. Today we are bringing you some more bad news with another business bank, Dutch ING has decided to drop support for the Windows platform.
The company has confirmed that its ING Windows 10 Mobile App will stop working after April 16th and the company advises users to move to other platforms or use the Web based mobile banking services.
The decision has been made since Microsoft has already abandoned its own platform and also the Windows platform is currently having minimal users base with the market share now being zero percent compared to iOS and Android.
The bank blames Microsoft for its decision to abandon its app from the Windows Phone platform since the company does not support the system anymore. In a statement, the bank solely blamed Microsoft the reason behind abandoning the platform since Microsoft no longer provides security updates to the platform and continuing the app with an outdated platform does not go down with the company’s safety standards.
ING is not the first company to have abandoned the Windows Platform, earlier Netherlands’ ABN AMRO has also exited the Windows Platform due to the market share of the platform close to Zero percent.
The companies no longer feel it a profitable business by pushing developers for developing apps for a platform which has zero market share and only a handful of users. Microsoft has already confirmed that it will end support for the platform by mid 2019 and hence it makes sense for companies to put its work force on platforms which has a good percentage of users.
The news should not come as a surprise to Windows users and they should be expecting more such news in the coming days with companies moving out completely from Windows platform and concentrate on iOS and Android.
