After releasing the new cumulative updates for PCs, Microsoft has also pushed out the February 2019 patch for supported Windows Phone handsets. The company hasn’t highlighted any specific changes for Windows 10 Mobile devices but the patch appears to include security improvements.
Windows Phone owners currently on Windows 10 Mobile version 1709 will receive 15254.552. If you’re using a handset with Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update (version 1703), you will be getting Build 15063.1631.
Windows 10 Mobile Build 15254.552 and Windows 10 Mobile Build 15063.1631 includes security updates to Windows apps, Microsoft Edge, Windows graphics, and Windows kernel. There are other changes listed in the changelog but they are not valid for Windows Phones.
Windows 10 Mobile support
There are only a few months of Windows 10 Mobile monthly servicing left as the company is all set to end support for the tile-based mobile operating system in late 2019.
It’s been more than a year since the company announced the end of life for Windows Phone 8.1 and recently the software maker revealed that the devices with version 1709 will receive security patch support until December of 2019.
On the other hand, Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 10 Mobile version 1703 (which runs on Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL) on June 11th, 2019.
After the company ends support for the operating system, no new security updates and improvements will be released. It’s worth noting that Windows Phones won’t stop functioning after they pass the end of support deadline.
Eventually, the popular apps will stop working which will make the platform unusable at one point.
