Mozilla earlier today launched its new Firefox Quantum browser which is termed as faster, lighter than its earlier versions. With the launch, the company has also brought back Google as its default search engine for its Firefox browser.
The company in 2014 had entered into a deal with Yahoo, making it the default search engine provider especially for users in US. The move however backfired with lot of users showing there unhappiness to the company by moving away from the Firefox browser.
To get the users back to its Firefox browser, Mozilla updated its Browser with Firefox Quantum internally called as Firefox 57. With the update the company also brought back Google as the default search engine for Mozilla users ending a 3 year old deal with Yahoo.
The company had earlier signed a deal with Yahoo to be the default search engine for its Firefox Browser for next five years but had to exercise its contractual right to terminate its agreement with Yahoo in an effort to provide quality web search experience to its users.
Firefox currently has 60 search provider pre installed as default or secondary options with over more than 90 language versions. As reported Google is now the default search engine for Mozilla in most of the countries except China, Russia and Turkey were the default search engine is Baidu for China and Yandex for Russia and Turkey.
