One of the most annoying things in any web browser is when it plays an autoplay video with sound without giving any clue that the speakers are gonna blow. Google will finally address this issue in the next update by blocking autoplay videos with sound.

Google has given three conditions which will automatically play the autoplay video with sound. The first one is that the autoplay media will be played only if it does not play sound by default. The second condition is if the user clicks or interacts with the site. The last condition is  whether the user “has previously shown an interest in media on the site.”

This feature was originally planned for Chrome 64 which was launched in January but it got delayed. This feature will only be available in Chrome 66. Even though this feature is not yet available to the everyone, Google gave another feature in Chrome 64 update. Users can completely mute sound from a site by right-clicking on the particular tab and selecting “Mute site” option. This would prevent the site from producing any sound in the background. This would come in handy until Chrome 66 arrives. By the way, the latest version of Chrome is version 65.

Google Chrome by default, will update by itself so the users won’t have to do anything to enable this feature. It will be enabled once Google pushes out the update to the general public.

Microsoft has introduced improvements in the Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG) based on feedback from users. Insiders request on feedback hub to allow the download of files within WDAG. So with this release Windows users can download files from their WDAG session on their device. Microsoft has given a sequence of steps that can be manually enabled by users to see it in action.

As announced last week Microsoft now allows Insiders to see the latest features coming this to the Windows Mixed Reality platform. Microsoft has also requested users to give their feedback on the features of mixed reality platform on feedback hub. They can visit this link to give feedback. Microsoft had also given a workaround for the issue of failure of 360 viewer extension of Edge in Mixed Reality when opening it from “launch” button after installing. Manually enabling it after opening Edge browser would work for this issue.

Microsoft has fixed various issues like the incorrect rendering of the UAC dialog, OneNote crashing while using its touch to drag and drop feature and crashing of touch keyboard focus is moved to certain password fields. There are no major known issues in this build as per the blog post. Windows 10 Redstone 4 would soon enter the RTM status and Insiders will then receive only cumulative updates for bug fixes.

To download this build Windows insiders must enable the Fast Ring branch of development from the Windows Settings and then check for update.

Now the team behind the desktop app of NotePad++ has also brought their Win32 app to the Windows Store.

NotePad++ app on Microsoft Store has clearly mentioned in the app description that this is the centennial version of NotePad++ on desktops. The first version of the app has been numbered 7.5.5.0 and available on Windows Store. It offers all the features offered by the desktop app. All the Codes and changes can be located at the Github site here.

We have already seen Microsoft launching the Project Centennial version of the office suite of apps like Word, Powerpoint, Excel for Windows 10 S users when they launched the Microsoft Surface Laptop after Build 2017 hardware event. And Last month we saw Amazon Music app was also made available for download from the Microsoft Store which itself was a Project Centennial app.

Paint.Net, Affinity Photo and Designer app, Movie Edit Pro and Slack are some of the popular apps that made their way into the Store via Project Centennial bridge. More and more devs are now porting their existing win32 apps to the Windows 10 Store using Microsoft’s Project Centennial. And Without a doubt, Microsoft is also trying to bring as many devs to bring their app to the Microsoft store.

Microsoft is finally launching much rumored tabbed functionality within Windows 10 as an extension of much talked about feature TIMELINE that were supposed to come in the Fall creators update. Basically Microsoft is enabling any Apps( UWP for now) to behave exactly like a web browser. Suppose you are creating a word document and want to take help from the internet you can do so without launching any web browser. Looking for a help from Wikipedia while creating assignments? Well you are just a tab away! This might sound not so useful to average consumer because it is difficult to adapt to anything new. Frankly speaking, they does not care about that and this might not be a groundbreaking feature for them. But if you are a tech enthusiast, following all the latest happenings in this world of tech, you are well aware of PWA. If you are watching MICROSOFT closely these days, they talk a lot about connected everything stuff and continue on PC. I think this Tab Functionality puts a nice extra/necessary layer to the much awaited TIMELINE feature.

I think this is a good move from Microsoft. Microsoft has plans to expand this functionality from UWP only to other standard win32 programs like File Explorer, notepad, etc. Microsoft promised sets for OFFICE will mark its debut early next year. Although sets will be limited for Office and Edge mobile initially, Microsoft expect Developer to embrace this effort and implement this functionality, so apps can resume easily.

The Software giant is planning to test this feature with a small section of insiders initially.

The company in 2014 had entered into a deal with Yahoo, making it the default search engine provider especially for users in US. The move however backfired with lot of users showing there unhappiness to the company by moving away from the Firefox browser.

To get the users back to its Firefox browser, Mozilla updated its Browser with Firefox Quantum internally called as Firefox 57. With the update the company also brought back Google as the default search engine for Mozilla users ending a 3 year old deal with Yahoo.

The company had earlier signed a deal with Yahoo to be the default search engine for its Firefox Browser for next five years but had to exercise its contractual right to terminate its agreement with Yahoo in an effort to provide quality web search experience to its users.

Firefox currently has 60 search provider pre installed as default or secondary options with over more than 90 language versions. As reported Google is now the default search engine for Mozilla in most of the countries except China, Russia and Turkey were the default search engine is Baidu for China and Yandex for Russia and Turkey.

Now after a year, the company is holding “hundreds of thousands” of these unsold Spectacles in its warehouse in China. The unsold pieces could be a result of over excitements of the Snap executives with the initial demand of the Spectacles making them to assemble more pieces.

The company had overestimated the demand for its Spectacles based on the initial response with the company selling more than 150,000. The estimation has now been proved wrong with the glasses being lying in the company’s warehouse assembled or in parts with no immediate sign of selling.

The over estimation was caused due to the initial response the company got when consumers had lined up at the mobile vending machines which dispensed the glasses and there was huge orders received from the consumers.

As always the response fell over a period of time and now the company finds less people to actually buy the product. The bad news for the company is that the company’s stock price is now trading below the IPO price for nearly a year now.

It now remains to be seen whether the company’s  Sunglasses sales picks up any time soon or the company would be having the unsold stock lying in its warehouses for ever.

The Live Location feature was rolled out to users on Telegram and was made available for Facebook Messenger for a short time. The Live Location feature lets users share their Location in real time with their friends and families. The feature lets users share the location for a set period like 15 minutes, One Hour etc., and the feature is encrypted which can be controlled by the users.

WhatsApp already has a Location sharing feature which only shares the location for One time whereas the Live Location feature is a continuous process and the location is shared in real time on the Map. To share the location, users would need to open the individual chat or group chat and click on the attach button (For Android) and “+” sign for iOS users and click on “Share Live Location” option.

Users in Individual chat will be able to get the location in real time and for Group chat, all group members will be able to see your location. If more than one person in the group shares the Live Location it will be available for all to see on the Map in real time.

The Live Location feature is currently gradually rolling out for users both on Android and iOS and should be available for all users in the coming weeks. We currently have no news if and when the feature will be made available for Windows users. We will be updating this article once we have info on the availability of the Feature for Windows Phone users.

There are a lot of apps that has a support for continuum on Windows 10 Mobile and since the launch of this feature 20 months ago these app are growing in number, thanks to Windows 10’s wider reach. Recently Netflix ( whose app on phone doesn’t support continuum yet) has enabled the support for their Website to stream on Edge browser in continuum mode directly.

Now a new app has surfaced on Windows 10 Store named “WebFlix” which is basically a web wrapper that supports continuum mode on phone. This app also brings support for a keyboard or Xbox controller based navigation for Netflix. This app is a much better alternative for viewing Netflix content on your phone’s continuum mode given it has lot of other features which will be added over by the developer.
